Basic check with Probatix:
The little ABC of the blood count
Basic check-up with regular blood control: The best investment in your health!
✓ Recognize disease
✓ Maintain health
✓ Increase well-being
There are thousands of diseases, but only one health. For this reason, we should not try to chase after diseases and fight them with toxic drugs, debilitating immunizations, and invasive procedures, but instead maintain our health. Because health is one of our most precious possessions, we should do everything in our power for it: eat healthy, exercise enough, strengthen our bodies, nurture our minds, and attend our medical check-up appointments. The latter, in particular, is an effective but often underestimated tool. By detecting diseases at an early stage, we can not only reduce their course but often even prevent their onset completely. Small preventive measures save us so much money on medications, time for therapies, and pain from rehabilitation. For this reason, some preventive checkups, such as dental visits, vision checks, and routine gynecological exams, are already firmly established in our daily lives. But while we go to the dentist twice a year, have our eyes checked once a year, and visit the gynecologist every six months, we still skimp on regular basic checkups. And this, although an enormous profit can be achieved with only little effort. We therefore recommend investing a little more time in your health and having your blood values checked every six months as part of a basic check-up. In the best case, you will gain not only inner peace but also many more healthy and happy years of life.
Laboratory values at a glance: The little ABC of blood count
Anyone who receives a printout of the results after the blood analysis usually only sees question marks in front of them. The paper is full of subject-specific acronyms, cryptic decimal numbers and colorful scales with no further explanation. Unfortunately, the design is not geared towards the end customer, but has been specially created for medical professionals. This means that it is not always easy to take your health into your own hands and track the results at home. If you want to be proactive and regularly check your key data yourself, you need to understand the ABCs of the complete blood count. Here are the most important parameters:
Reticulocytes (Retis, Retr)
The standard value is approx. 1%. If the value is lower, anemia may be present due to a blood formation disorder. If the value is elevated, this indicates increased blood formation due to an erythrocyte deficiency.
Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)
The normal value is approx. 4-6%. If the value is lower, the
possibly an infection. If the value is elevated, this indicates diabetes
there.
Cholesterol (LDL & HDL)
The normal value of LDL cholesterol is approx. 100-129 mg/dL and
that of HDL cholesterol above 60 mg/dL. If these values fail, this indicates a
cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels, which increases the risk of arteriosclerosis.
and cardiovascular diseases.
Triglycerides (TRIG)
The normal value is approx. 75-150 mg/dL. If the value is particularly low, this may be due to malnutrition. If the value is elevated, this indicates either pancreatitis or vascular calcification, which can increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes and coronary heart disease.
Creatinine (KREA)
The normal value is approx. 0.84 mg/dL for men and approx. 0.66 mg/dL for women.
mg/dL. If the value is lower, this is probably due to a reduced
muscle mass, but this has no direct medical significance. If the value is increased,
This indicates a kidney weakness, an inflammation of the skin or muscles, a
muscular dystrophy or an injury to the muscles.
Glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT)
The normal value is up to 50 U/I for men and up to 30 U/I for women. If the value is elevated, this indicates possible liver damage due to liver inflammation (e.g. hepatitis), a toxin (e.g. fungal toxins) or chronic alcohol consumption.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
The normal value is approx. 0.40-4.0 mU/I. Is the
value is lower, this may be due to hyperthyroidism or, in very rare cases
cases of a cancerous tumor. If the value is elevated, this indicates a
hypothyroidism.
Vitamin D (OHD)
The normal value of vitamin D is approx. 30-50 µg/l. If the value is lower,
this may be due to malnutrition, which can affect the bones.
If the value is elevated, this can lead to temporary discomfort (such as nausea, loss of appetite,
vomiting), kidney damage or, in rare cases, to lead to cardiac arrhythmias.
Vitamin B12 (Holo TC)
The standard value of vitamin B12 is approx. 200-1000 ng/l. If the value is lower, this may be due to malnutrition, anemia or damage to the spinal cord. If the value is elevated, this indicates liver disease or, in rare cases, a blood disease (such as leukemia) .
It is important to note that a deviation from the normal value does not automatically diagnose a serious illness, but is merely an indication of a momentary discrepancy. In this case, the attending physician should be consulted and regular blood tests should be carried out to keep an eye on further developments. As deviations from the normal value are possible due to diet, physical constitution, hormone levels or age, high or low values can be perfectly normal and are no reason to panic. They simply need to be monitored and measured again at regular check-ups. They are also confirmation that your routine blood test was the right decision, as they allow any discrepancies to be detected at an early stage.
Step by step to diagnosis: from blood sampling to laboratory findings
There are various reasons that speak in favor of a blood test: It can
be prescribed before an operation, it can be used to confirm a diagnosis in the case of complaints,
it can be necessary to monitor drug therapy or
it can be used as a routine test to prevent disease. Depending on the motivation, it is either ordered by a doctor or
initiated on one’s own initiative. In both cases, the procedure is as follows:
The patient makes an appointment to have blood taken to check his values. To do this, he can go
to a doctor’s surgery, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory or a DRK blood collection point
.
The blood is now drawn from the crook of the arm by the medical professional and directly
sent to the laboratory. This analyzes all relevant values and sends the results to the
doctor treating you. A few days later, the data can
be queried by the patient over the phone or in person. If there are abnormal values here, another doctor’s appointment should be arranged to
discuss the reasons for this. In this second interview, the further procedure is discussed, possible
medication is prescribed and further check-ups are agreed. If, on the other hand, the values
are inconspicuous, you do not need to do anything else. In this case, we only recommend
checking the blood values again after six months to ensure that you
stay healthy and alert.
